Rescue Me ID: 14-10-22-00639Roy (male)

Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sweet, sweet Roy. We actually saved Roy from a high kill shelter in the South and he was a walking skeleton. His skin condition was rough, nails overgrown. Someone had not loved this boy in a very, very long time. Roy is considered to be a pocket beagle and ideal size is no more than 25 LB. He is currently 19 LB and should gain just a few more but being that he was so emaciated, we have to take things slow and let the weight progressively come on. We have put him through two sets of bloodwork and are pleasantly surprised that overall he is in great shape. He was just lacking proper nutrition. He is heart worm negative, up to date on ... (Read More)shots and heart worm and lyme negative which is amazing news. He is estimated to be between 4 and 5 years old. Super sweet dog who gets along with other animals. If you are interested in being Roy's forever family, please email for an adoption application - thegoldenpittierescue@comcast.net Roy's adoption fee is $100 to assist with some of his vetting he has received. Better photos to continue coming as he packs the LB on. We cannot even bear to show the picture from the day we saved him'|. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-21-00079Abigail - PENDING APPL (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Isn't Abigail the sweetest little girl in the world! She was saved from a drain pipe and taken to a kill shelter where her time was up. She is only 8 weeks old and around 8-10 LB. She is a lab mix but we are not sure what she is mixed with. She has a cute little patch of white on her chest. She has had her puppy shots and has been de-wormed. Her adoption fee is $50.00 to assist with the shelter fees we had in order to save her and her initial shots. She is too young for her rabies shot and spay at this time, but proof of both will be mandatory by the time she is 6 months old. She gets along with everyone and everything. We are ... (Read More)unsure how big she will get, but we believe she will get to be at least 45 LB. If you are interested in Abigail, please email for an adoption application. We only adopt within a certain radius of Central PA as we perform home visits as well. Please note that because we cannot guarantee what size she will be or what breed make up she is - if these are two things that are a must for you to know - please consider inquiring on another adoptable pet. Adopting a puppy is an obligation for life. (Less)

Cuddly bug - funny man Duke - that best sums him up in a few words. If you are looking for a dog that makes you laugh, loves to take walks, loves to steal your seat on the sofa and if you enjoy having a partner in crime - he is your man. Duke found himself in a kill shelter in Maryland through no fault of his own. At 8 years old, that is NO place for a wonderful guy like him. He loves other dogs, he also loves cats. And he just loves being loved. He doesn't show his age at all and let's face it... 8 years is YOUNG. He is neutered, up to date on shots and ready for a family to show him forever.     Cutie pie Paula! We saved Paula from a high kill shelter where her time was up. Our best guess is she is a lab/beagle blend. She is just under 40 LB and full grown. She is around 3 years old, spayed, up to date on shots and was heartworm positive but has already started fast kill heartworm treatment. She is energetic and loving. She does well with most other dogs. Her adoptable date is set for October 18th once she has completed her heartworm treatment. Rescue Me ID: 14-06-19-00611Rico (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We are very VERY shocked that this amazing, sweet boy has been with us three months now. Rico is everything good... We rescued him from a high kill shelter in the South where he was taken in as a stray. We got him neutered, shots updated and were so happy when he tested heartworm and Lyme negative! Rico is roughly 50-60 LB but he is a LOW RIDER. He is low and long, gorgeous, muscular. And is quite possibly the funniest and most loving dog we have met in all these years. WE love him so much we wish WE could adopt him, but we know he deserves a family of his own where he will be royally spoiled and loved. If you do not like lap dogs - ... (Read More)he is not for you. If you do not like funny dogs - he is not for you. If you do not like dogs who love snoring next to you at night - he really is not for you. Rico is crate trained but we no longer crate him. He is non-destructive and phenomenal outside of the crate and doesn't typically have accidents either, so we give him free roam. He loves children, adults, other dogs... He loves taking walks, loves being a couch potato with you. He LOVES car rides, though thinks he has a drivers license and can drive - so that can be a bit tough if you are the only one in the car. He has a zest for life and his big pittie smile is contagious. He can be content being your only dog or he can be content being with another dog. He has ears for days... He could be homed with a younger family with smaller children...or he could be homed with a retired family with no children. He's versatile. Did we mention - he's awesome? If you think Rico is the dog for you, please email for an application to thegoldenpittierescue@comcast.net Rico's adoption fee is $100.00 to assist with some of his vetting expense. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-05-00550T-Bone (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It is so sad and so hard to believe that sweet T-Bone has been with us over 6 months now with very limited interest from potential families. T-Bone had the odds stacked against him sitting in that cold shelter where his owners dumped him. He was SKINNY, heartworm positive and never knew the comforts of being an indoor dog. Once we rescued him, we had him neutered, treated for heartworm, got him up to date on shots and of course, worked to potty train him as he never knew indoor life. We are happy to report that we re-tested him 9/11 with our vet and he now tests heartworm negative! T-bone has been almost a tester dog for us with new ... (Read More)rescues that come in our home. He is pretty well balanced, friendly and gets along with most other animals. With the colder weather now upon us, he had his first experience with an electric fire place and he loves stretching out in front of it and snoozing his little heart out. T-Bone loves taking walks, loves being lazy too. If you want to throw a tennis ball, he will gladly retrieve it. If you want to walk, he will gladly walk with you. And if you want to lay around and watch movies all day, he will also gladly do that with you. T-Bone just wants love and to be accepted as a forever family member. He is 6 years young with plenty of love and life left. He is right around 50 LB, gorgeous fawn/tan in color. One of the down falls of being an outdoor dog is that he has a few cosmetic issues on the folds of his ears - he is missing hair that will never grow back. It is quite hard to see unless you are looking for it, but our vet felt it was a result of severe flea dermatitis at one time or possibly even frost bite. In any event, it doesn't take away from his gorgeousness at all. T-Bone has had free roam of the house while we work and not once have we come home to anything destroyed. He has a bit of crate anxiety so if you plan to crate him a lot - please be kind and consider adopting a dog without crate anxiety. If you are interested in learning more about T-Bone and need additional photos, please email us for an adoption application at thegoldenpittierescue@comcast.net T-Bone's adoption fee is $100.00 to assist with some of the vetting he has received. Rescue Me ID: 14-03-29-00283CJ (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Can we just tell you how much we LOVE LOVE LOVE CJ. CJ actually came to us back in March and now that we have spent some time with him over the months, we really know what his ideal home is. CJ had a family before being surrendered to a kill shelter. He was the only dog and was not socialized with anyone other than his family. They became too elderly to care for him and unfortunately made the call to dump him in a shelter. He is a 6 year old chihuahua who weighs around 12 LB. He is a gorgeous brown and is a super funny and charming little boy. He is neutered, up to date on shots and heartworm negative. He is on a monthly heartworm ... (Read More)preventative as well. We have socialized him with big dogs and little dogs and while he has grown to accept them in our environment, the thing that would make CJ the most happy is to have a domain of his very own with a single owner and no small children. CJ is loyal and loving to one person in the home. He does not like when other humans or animals approach while he is in your lap. He loves taking walks with you, cuddling with you, playing with toys. He is house trained. His favorite thing in the world is freshly laundered sheets - he loves to zoom around on his back on them. CJ takes a little while to warm up so first meeting is generally a little tough with a guy like CJ. But once he knows you are HIS person - you would be the luckiest person in the entire world. If you are a single person in the home, looking for a companion solely for yourself and don't mind a few quirks here and there - and if interested in little CJ, please email for an application. thegoldenpittierescue@comcast.net If you have other pets, please consider one of our other adoptables. If you have other family members living with you, please consider one of our other adoptables. We do not want to set CJ up to fail...you have got to commit to him for life. He is special and deserves the very best. CJ's adoption fee is $100.00 to assist with some of his vetting he has received. He is also micro-chipped. (Less)
